Giving Thanks

With Thanksgiving just a few days away, I realized just how much we have to be thankful for.  As a realtor I meet people from all walks of life;  the young couple looking for their first home, the single mother trying to find the best possible home for the price, the executive, and the professional couple.  While these people are all valuable clients, they come with different expectations in the home buying process and I do my best to meet all their expectations.  I am thankful to be able to work with different people and learning a new lesson with each client.  They have enriched my life and my values as I have learned so much from each and everyone of them.

As I learn about a relative battling cancer, I am thankful for the health of others close to me.  With age comes aches and pains, but those are just bumps in the road compared to someone battling a major illness.

When I see a couple with kids getting evicted from their home, I am grateful to have a roof over may head and a bed to sleep in.  Living in the suburbs, we are often immune to the plight of those in the inner city or even the outlying areas of the city.  It is an eye opening experience to see just how having a place to call home can bring so much joy to a family.

I am grateful for my niece who is taking her two kids to help at a shelter on Thanksgiving.  I wish I had thought of that when my kids were their age, and I see the value in teaching kids the joy and satisfaction of giving without receiving.  Its one of the best lessons to learn in life and I am still working on perfecting that aspect of my life.

My friends who are there for me on my good days and bad, deserve special thanks.  You are not family and can walk away at any minute, yet you stick with me even when I am at my worst.  You are there for me when I make decisions that make you doubt my sanity.  I am truly grateful to have you in my life and appreciate everything you do for me.
